Family Agreements

Living with your adult child? Co-purchasing property with a friend? Or building an extension or granny flat with family? These common arrangements often involve an older person exchanging their property or assets in return for housing and/or care as they age.

A family agreement is an arrangement between an older person and someone else regarding care and living arrangements.

Visit this great resource on the Compass information website, to learn more about why you’ll need a family agreement. You will increase your understanding of:

  • what a Family Agreement is
  • the steps to take to make a Family Agreement
  • what to do when something goes wrong with a Family Agreement.

Compass is a project of Elder Abuse Action Australia and is an information resource to guide action on elder abuse.
