Create your own Beyond Age storyboard
Seniors Rights Victoria and Council on the Ageing (COTA) Victoria are pleased to announce that online submissions for their Beyond Age campaign are now open, all in support of World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD) 2026.
The focal point of their WEAAD program, the Beyond Age project challenges ageist attitudes and promotes respect for older people. To do so, it asks older people to couple a photo from their past with one from their present, then providing advice about getting older to their younger self.
A number of COTA Victoria and Seniors Rights Victoria members and supporters have already taken part in in-person workshops. Examples of completed storyboards are above, and more can be found in an online exhibition.
Now, members of the community who cannot attend an in-person event – of which more will be announced soon – can take part online. Those interested can head to the WEAAD website and submit past and current photos of themselves alongside a short piece of advice. Storyboards will be processed and added to the online exhibition as quickly as possible.
“I encourage older people to take part in our online submission process and to create their own Beyond Age storyboard,” said Ben Rogers, CEO of Seniors Rights Victoria and COTA Victoria. “Together, we can emphasise the value of age, and combat ageism as one of the significant drivers of elder abuse.”
