Council on the Ageing (COTA) Victoria and Seniors Rights Victoria (SRV) are proud to advise that nominations are now open for the COTA Victoria Senior Achiever Awards and the larger 2025 Victorian Senior of the Year Awards program.

As announced by the Victorian Government Department of Families, Fairness and Housing, nominations are now open across six important categories including the Emerging Impact Award, the Positive Ageing Award, the Promotion of Multiculturism Award, the Veteran Community Award, and the Premier’s Award for Victorian Senior of the Year.

The final category, the COTA Victoria Senior Achiever Award, will honour several local community champions that significantly contribute to positive ageing within their own localities.

Update: The 2025 Victorian Senior of the Year Awards nomination period has been extended by one week. Submissions now close 11.59 pm on Sunday 8 June 2025, rather than the original deadline of 1 June.

“We’re so very pleased to have worked with the Victorian Government to refocus the COTA Victoria Senior Achiever Awards on local community champions,” said CEO of COTA Victoria and SRV, Ben Rogers.

“There are so very many older Victorians working tirelessly within their own communities, and many of those hard-working individuals are often overlooked.” Mr Rogers continued.

“The COTA Victoria Senior Achiever Awards proudly showcase those who are bringing about demonstrable change and improving the lives of friends, family, and community members all around them.”

The Victorian Government Department of Families, Fairness and Housing will host a special online information session on the nomination process on 8 May. For more information on that session, each award, and how to nominate a deserving older Victorian, head to the Victorian Government Department of Families, Fairness and Housing’s Seniors Online awards portal.

The 2025 Victorian Senior of the Year Awards program will be held in October, taking place as part of the 2025 Victorian Seniors Festival.

Today, our focus is on promoting opportunities for and protecting the legal rights of people 50+. We value ageing and embrace its opportunities for personal growth, contribution, and self-expression. This belief drives benefits to the nation and its states alongside communities, families, and individuals.

Seniors Rights Victoria (SRV) is the key state-wide service dedicated to advancing the rights of older people and the early intervention into, or prevention of, elder abuse in our community. It is the only Community Legal Centre dedicated to preventing and responding to elder abuse within Victoria.

SRV has a team of experienced advocates, lawyers, and social workers who provide free information, advice, referral, legal advice, legal casework, and support to older people who are either at risk of or are experiencing elder abuse.
