Professional education

Seniors Rights Victoria has launched its revised, fee-for-service professional education module titled "Recognising and Responding to Elder Abuse".

Targeted toward service providers, agencies and other organisations, this module from Seniors Rights Victoria — the key statewide Community Legal Centre dedicated to preventing and responding to elder abuse — will enable your staff to identify incidents of elder abuse and act appropriately.

What we offer

Our standard module is three hours long and can be delivered privately for your organisation's staff, either on-site or online throughout Victoria.

The module is a mix of information provision and discussion activities and can be tailored, for an additional fee, to include further content that is relevant for your staff.

To arrange a quote and discuss your request with a Seniors Rights Victoria educator, please fill in the expression of interest form found at the bottom of this page.

Included topics and outcomes

Our module has been designed based on casework undertaken by Seniors Rights Victoria, and take into account relevant legislation and best practice as informed by collaboration and consultation with external organisations.

Upon completion of the module, your staff will empowered to:

  • Define the relationship between ageing, ageism and elder abuse.
  • Identify the different types of elder abuse and indicators.
  • Integrate ways to work with an older person.
  • Identify who is at risk or being subjected to elder abuse.
  • Respond individually and organisationally to incidences of elder abuse.
  • Work with diverse populations.
  • Be able to seek external support and assistance.
  • Apply learnings.

Our educators

Our educators are highly experienced in providing dynamic and interactive training that meets the needs of staff.

All educators have successfully completed a Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment.

Ongoing support

After the module, participants will have access to free secondary consultations provided through our Helpline. Our experienced case workers will be able to assist staff with information, advice, and support for their client or patient.
