The Domestic Violence Victoria supported Elder Abuse Prevention and Response forums are continuing to be rolled out across the State.
Recent forums have been held in Mildura and Ballarat. They were well attended by a diversity of agencies including family violence, homelessness, Aged Care Assessment Service, Home and Community Care, Victoria Police, Royal District Nursing, Victims Assistance Program, hospital social workers, CASA, Community Legal Centres, Linkages, Indigenous and Centrelink. Presentations were provided by Victoria Police, Seniors Rights Victoria, Office of Public Advocate as well as local services.
The afternoons of the forums were spent unpacking an elder abuse hypothetical which identified different service delivery models and referral pathways but also identified some of the challenges professionals face when addressing elder abuse.
There are six forums coming up, as follows:
Monday 16th September in Whittlesea
Wednesday 9th October in Kialla
Wednesday 30th October in Western Melbourne
Tuesday 12th November in Warrnambool
Wednesday 27th November in St Kilda and
Tuesday 3rd December in Geelong.
