Bendigo District Aboriginal Cooperative – short films about elder abuse

On 24 February 2015 a series of short films about Elder Abuse in the local Aboriginal Community, written and produced by Bendigo District Aboriginal Cooperative (BDAC), were launched in in collaboration with Seniors Rights Victoria and Cornerstone Media.  Please see the following links:-

The short films were extremely well received by an audience of approximately 125 persons.  There was a Q&A session after the viewing of the films.  Sargent Margaret Singh (Bendigo Family Violence Liaison Officer) and Caroline Granger from Seniors Rights Victoria answered audience questions about Elder Abuse and suggested how to address Elder Abuse in the Aboriginal Community. BDAC also used the occasion to launch a brochure entitled “Respect Our Elders”, which refers readers to Seniors Rights Victoria for assistance with elder abuse issues.
